Older Preschool Program

Age 4

Children entering the 4-year-old program must be four before January 1.

ALL CHILDREN MUST BE TOILET TRAINED AND CAPABLE OF TAKING CARE OF THEIR TOILET NEEDS.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

Our programs include both individual and group activities. Daily sessions include free play and small group teacher directed activities. Children choose from a variety of activities involving creative art, blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, toys, books, puzzles, play-dough, etc. During this time, teachers gain special insight into each child's needs and interests as well as provide support and guidance.

In circle time, the children review lessons of the day (i.e. shape, number, letter, etc.), discuss and learn about the calendar and weather, listen to stories, carry on discussions (sharing), sing songs, play instruments, and/or participate in an interactive group game.

We also teach the children the importance of cleaning up and caring for the classroom. The children learn to sit together for snack time. Weather permitting, the children will spend time playing together on the playground. Newsletters are sent home monthly summarizing plans and activities for the coming month.

With the new Connecticut law requiring children entering kindergarten to turn 5 before September 1st, we welcome students who turn 5 years old after that cut off to join our 4-year old 5 day program to prepare!
